Dear Parents and Students,
Hope you are safe and warm on another snow day! We are becoming quite behind as you can imagine. Parents, I'm enlisting your help as we have a lot to get done!
When we return next week we need to accomplish 4 big things:
1. Finish reading assessments
2. Take a Math Unit 3 Post-Formative Test
3. Complete our 2nd quarter writing prompt on our new animals
4. Present our After School Actors pieces at Super Tiger
Math
To help us get ready, I am inserting a copy of the Math Study Guide for Unit 3 that students would have received on Friday. You can review it on-line or print it if you are able to print at home. I will have printed copies on Monday, but wanted to give everyone a head start. I'm attaching the study guide in an email. Please let me know if you have any trouble getting the email. Please contact me by email at [email protected]. Please ask your student to explain each answer to you as they complete it. They will gain the most benefit if they can explain their thinking to someone else.
Also, students who could benefit from extra math practice were given practice packets on Thursday for specific topics . The packet has a blue note stapled to the front.
Writing
In writing we are researching a NEW animal to write a new informative booklet about that animal. Students have a book about their animal at school and they may also use on-line resources such as PebbleGo (logon and password: wnes) and Encyclopedia Britannica (logon: willardsd password: on-line). If you have on-line access at home this weekend, please ask your student use these or other resources to write down facts in the following categories: Habitat, Diet, Life Cycle, and Interesting Facts. The BEST way to write this information is to try to write full sentences in the student's own words as much as possible. This approach will help them be able to compose their new book more easily. You may use other sources that you find, but students may need help reading harder text from sources other than the two we use at school.
After School Actors
For those students with parts in the 3 holiday scripts, please ask them to practice their parts this weekend. Missing practice last week gives us only one more practice before we perform on Wednesday.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give your child in preparing for the extremely busy week ahead. We want to get these main tasks completed before the long break so that we can start new units when we return in January. Please e-mail me with any questions.
One last thing we won the donation drive! Thank you for remembering the reason for the season. We have had many conversations about how important giving and helping others.
Oops! One more thing, I promise, we have our Christmas party on Friday. A green letter came home from the room mother. Please fill out form and return. Thank you!!!
